J'accuse le régime chinois, par Guy Sorman Aujourd'hui, retenons les noms de Wei Jingsheng, Hu Jia et Liu Xiaobo : ils sont, pour la Chine, les nouveaux Havel, Sakharov et Mandela, les héros d'une dignité à venir, celle qui jusqu'à présent est déniée à un milliard de leurs concitoyens chinois, hommes et femmes en quête des mêmes droits que nous : Chinois, mais avant tout nos frères et nos soeurs en humanité. Ces Chinois ne seraient-ils pas satisfaits de leur sort ? Sous la tutelle bienveillante du Parti communiste chinois (PCC) qui leur a conféré le droit de s'enrichir, à l'exclusion de toute autre aspiration, spirituelle, politique et morale ? La croissance comme destin : ce discours-là, complice de la répression communiste, pétri d'ignorance historique et de sinophilie primitive, est devenu une vulgate en Occident, autant qu'en Chine. Ce non-droit à la démocratie, assez bon pour des Chinois adeptes de la servitude volontaire, autorise nos sinophiles en quête de visa, nos affairistes en quête de contrats, nos politiciens en quête de flatteries, à se précipiter à Pékin, sans états d'ame, surtout pas d'états d'ame. Les "dissidents" démocrates, Wei Jingsheng, Liu Xiaobo et Hu Jia Sport Game ne seraient-ils que des égarés ? N'auraient-ils rien compris à la "Grande Renaissance chinoise", pour reprendre la terminologie bétonnée du PC ? Et le sort de Wei Jingsheng nous rappelle tout de même qu'en 1911 un certain Sun Yat-sen, exilé en Grande-Bretagne, s'en revint en Chine y proclamer la République contre l'Empire et être élu président, bien avant que de nombreuses monarchies européennes n'empruntent le même chemin. Et Liu Xiaobo est pétri de la pensée chinoise autant que de la philosophie des Lumières, familière aux intellectuels chinois depuis deux siècles au moins. Et Hu Jia, bouddhiste fervent, nous rappelle que la compassion et la vertu sont aussi des composantes éternelles de la civilisation chinoise. Eux trois et le peuple se reconnaissent sans peine dans ces strophes de Lao-tseu (ou Laozi), il y a plus de vingt siècles : "Sont dignes du respect du peuple Ceux qui se contentent d'une vie calme et frugale." La frugalité est ce qui manque le plus à l'oligarchie communiste, aux dynasties d'apparatchiks qui se partagent le pouvoir et l'argent. Cette nouvelle classe de super-riches exploite (au sens marxiste du terme) le labeur d'un milliard de paysans pauvres : misère économique et dénuement moral d'un peuple souvent privé d'écoles et de toute médecine. Privé de liberté religieuse aussi, sauf lorsqu'elle se cantonne dans des lieux de culte gérés par le PC. Ne croyons pas un instant que le peuple chinois soit satisfait de son sort ni hypnotisé par la propagande du parti qui claironne un nouvel "age information technology governanced'or". Entre Internet et téléphonie cellulaire, les humbles surveillent en continu les exactions des super-riches et des apparatchiks de village. For all of that, even with extra pay for overtime, he earned the equivalent of $1 an hour. “The factory was always abusing my brother,” the sister, Ma Liqun, said tearfully last week. Since Mr. Ma’s death, there have been 12 other suicides or suicide attempts — eight men and four women — on two Foxconn campuses in Shenzhen, where employees live and work. The factories here, with about 400,000 employees, make products for global companies like Apple, Dell and Hewlett-Packard. He, too, plans to leave soon, to join a new business with his brother making candles for export. Many other manufacturers in China also struggle with high turnover. Throughout southern China, the country’s industrial heartland, there is an acute labor shortage, as the legions of rural migrants who formerly journeyed thousands of miles from the interior provinces are now choosing other options. Many seek positions in the service sector, or jobs closer to home. “There’s no doubt about it: they don’t want to work on the assembly line,” Jing Jun, a sociologist at Tsinghua University in Beijing, says of the young migrant workers moving into southern China. “They have a different expectation. And once people’s attitudes about being in a factory change, other things will change.” Foxconn said it was trying to improve its employees’ working and living conditions. Still, Louis Woo, a high-ranking Foxconn executive, acknowledged that much needed to be done to improve the workplace and the management culture. “Maybe this spate of suicides will also serve us as a wake-up call,” he said in an interview last week. “We realize we must do a better job.” Sociologists say China’s new generation of migrant WoW Heroes workers — many of them born in the 1990s — are better educated and more conscious WoW Gold visa of their rights.
